Missing Zinsco Panel Cover Creates a Shock Hazard

A missing or damaged electrical panel cover can leave energized components exposed and within reach, creating a serious risk of electrical shock.

In this video, Matt, Owner/CEO of Take Charge Electric, inspects an older Zinsco panel in Gig Harbor that is missing part of its dead front. The dead front is the protective panel cover designed to prevent contact with live wiring and bus bars. With part of it missing, someone could reach directly into the panel and touch energized components.

Matt shows the exposed wiring and bus bars and explains why the homeowner requested an estimate to replace the panel. If your electrical panel has missing covers, exposed parts, buzzing, unusual warmth, rust or visible damage, avoid touching it and have it inspected by a licensed electrician. Take Charge Electric provides panel inspections, replacements, safety upgrades and electrical repairs throughout the West Sound.
