A missing or damaged electrical panel cover can leave energized components exposed and within reach, creating a serious risk of electrical shock.

In this video, Matt, Owner/CEO of Take Charge Electric, inspects an older Zinsco panel in Gig Harbor that is missing part of its dead front. The dead front is the protective panel cover designed to prevent contact with live wiring and bus bars. With part of it missing, someone could reach directly into the panel and touch energized components.

Matt shows the exposed wiring and bus bars and explains why the homeowner requested an estimate to replace the panel. If your electrical panel has missing covers, exposed parts, buzzing, unusual warmth, rust or visible damage, avoid touching it and have it inspected by a licensed electrician. The guys were really cool with one of my kids who's autistic and likes tools and kept taking the tape measure. Josh I think was his name wasn't upset about it. Steffan as well was cool with all my kids. Also there was no cussing at the job site as well. Very professional group when everything is said and done.

We've had them come out twice now, in both situations they responded within 24hrs and had somebody out here completing the work within 48hrs. The service technicians where professional, polite, and friendly. They cleaned up after themselves and vacuumed leaving no mess. Both jobs were on the smaller side, so not sure about the experience with bigger jobs. That being said, when we do have a bigger electrical project we will be calling them again.

Each circuit was wired to a different panel.  I have a manufactured house, so it comes with its own set of challenges.  It was done very efficiently, and the electrician and his apprentice were very informative as to the process and what they were doing.
